Sitting Inside

Sitting Inside explores episodic and implicit memory through the remediation of found objects. The

collected materials, then undergo material processes of bodily engagement through casting, pressure, transfer, and contact. These techniques preserve and archive the tactile remains of past interactions, creating a tangible record of the haptic trace of temporal experience. As remnants are pieced together, new sensory narratives emerge, triggering recollections of past experiences. Sitting Inside utilises absence as a material component to invite contemplation on what has been erased via

forgetting, discarding, erosion or destruction. Key to the work is the encounter between body and object, drawing out embodied collective and individual memory through affective reactions. This response remains incomplete, reflected in the negative space and absent forms within the works.
