Alice Martin is a multi-disciplinary artist who resides and works on Gadigal Land (Eora/Sydney) in completion of her Masters of Fine Art from the National Art School. Martin investigates episodic memory through an encounter and remediation of found objects. Drawing on contemporary theories of haptic sight and mimesis Martin uncovers intimate material knowledge of both the self and narrative collective memory. The ephemerality and temporality of memory leads to its fragmentary nature and it is often a construction rather than a truth. Martin’s work uses the language of objects to explore ineffable memories and emotions, unlocked through sensory response and interaction.
