Alice Martin is a multi-disciplinary artist who resides and works on Gadigal Land (Eora/Sydney) with a Master of Fine Art from the National Art School. 

Martin’s work explores how interventions on discarded domestic objects, found and collected from street waste, can generate affectual responses through acts of bodily engagement. Her methodology engages with expanded print practices via acts of transfer, pressure and contact. She investigates the potential narrative histories of found objects, and how they can be remediated into new contexts.

When objects shift from the privacy of the domestic into a new public, revealing landscape, Martin explores how they continue to carry the residue of lived experience and encounter. Through assemblage and remediation, these objects act as containers for preserving temporal experiences and possible narrative histories. By translating and transforming everyday domestic materials, Martin shapes new meaning, whilst attempting to uncover past histories and narratives that can never be fully traced or reconstructed.

Recent exhibitions include The World As Glass at COMA, Gosford Emerging Art Prize at Gosford Regional Gallery and a commission for Libris Awards: The Australian Artist's Book Prize at Artspace Mackay. Martin’s works are included in the collections of Curtain University, RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) and the University of South Queensland.
